Kindly Kin and Polka Dot Pumpkins

Autumn leaves, with their russet hues, fall silently from
rustic branches, scattering the floor with a bed of
colour; a gentle reminder that Hallowe'en
is just a few short weeks away.

The birthday flowers I received from my daughter
are still in full bloom and I love that their colour
perfectly matches the polka dot pumpkins.

A letter and card from Canada arrived in the post, bearing
such thoughtful Hallowe'en wishes from dear Debi Livsey.

Sweet, thoughtful Ms Misantropia travelled the miles to visit me,
here in Wales and found a few Hallowe'en treasures to take home.

I've been finding perfect pieces of Hallowe'en decor...

Including this brain (the poster was a gift from my daughter).

And a gorgeous black cat.

Have you started decorating for Autumn or Hallowe'en, yet?

That's five times I've mentioned Hallowe'en in this post.
Now six.

Perhaps a little too excited :D

I will leave you with some blurry Nala cuteness ♥

And a few links, including the Melancholy and Menace Shop,
where you will discover vintage treasures, with a whisper of the macabre.

  1. As a Catholic...Not a practising Catholic...As l always say...
"I'm very good at it"...! :).
I remember that today's Halloween customs are also thought to have been influenced by Christian dogma and practices derived from it. Halloween is the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows' Day (also known as All Saints' or Hallowmas) on 1st November and All Souls' Day on 2nd November, thus giving the holiday on 31st October the full name of All Hallows' Eve (meaning the evening before All Hallows' Day). Since the time of the early Church, major feasts in Christianity (such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost) had vigils which began the night before, as did the feast of All Hallows'. These three days are collectively called Allhallowtide and are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed souls who have yet to reach Heaven....!

The month of October should be considered Hallowe'en..ALL of it..After all the shops,
supermarkets, markets, charity shops are FULL of costumes and items of the macabre...
Some of the assistants don't look to good either..! :0).

Autumn is ALL around my home at present...the leaves are turning on the Virginia
Creeper..saddens me a little bit..still, l have spiders building large webs on
the windows..l feed them, if and when l can catch a fly..ssssh! don't tell anyone!
Trouble is, with spiders inside and outside, l've been unable to wash the windows!
Still...another month, it will be all clear, outside anyway! Bless their little
    eight legs..! :).

And Nala looks lovely...goes without saying...
You must get her a little pointed hat Yvonne..HeHe! Bless!x

    1. I do like to do Halloweeny things all year round, but it's lovely to see all the decor throughout October.

Nothing wrong with a few cobwebs and spiders in your home. They help to catch the flies (which I hate). And they also look great for Hallowe'en.

I love Autumn, so much. I'm like an excited child at this time of year, and I yearn to be outdoors most of the time.

I was thinking bat wings for Nala, although a witchy hat would be perfect, too :)

    2. Lovely Maria of Rosey Tinted Spectacles was asking after you today. She's over on Instagram, too. I told her you seemed fine, and still telling your rubbish jokes πŸ˜‰

  2. Flowers and Polkadots match your gorgous couch! Posing kitties are delightful accent pieces, Nala sure has warmed up to the celebrity I'd say! Peas & Carrots, that's right! Your special day! Blessings by the bushel faraway friend! Now I'm really happy you were on my heart to write to you! Huge hugs from the North Pole! πŸ‘»πŸ‘πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

    1. Thank you Julie :)

I've placed the little Halloween cat in one of the front windows, it looks just like cobweb used to when she was angry ♥
