Inky Black and Crimson Skies

"There was no moon. The sky above our heads was
inky black. But the sky on the horizon was not dark at all.
It was shot with crimson, like a splash of blood."

- Daphne du Maurer, Rebecca -

~

I've been photographing the sky in all its guises lately,
and thought I'd share a few images here with you, today.

(Camera used: Nikon D5000)

These first two were taken on a damp March morning.
I couldn't resist capturing the sky's pink, violet and amber hues.

This next one was taken on a cold February afternoon.
I love the moody greys and stark trees, shrouded in fog.

One evening in midwinter, the setting sun
produced this spectacular, blazing sky...

And here, a cloud-covered sky conceals a blazing
sun, adding to the darkness of this tree's silhouette.

This final image was shot by my daughter, using her vintage Canon AE-1 film camera.
The developed film produced some good quality images.

Thank you for dropping by.

Have a perfect day!
